Ravensburg

Ravensburg is a small town in the South of Germany. Its city center features many historical towers and houses and the "Veitsburg" lies just outside the walls on top of a hill. It also has the Ravensburger Gaming Museum, which sadly I found during my last nights' walk about, so did not get a chance to go to.

Travel
Closest airports are Allgaeu Airport - Memmingen and Bodensee Airport - Friedrichshaven, which are both very small with limited destinations/airlines to choose from. Bigger international airports are Stuttgart Airport, which my colleague and I flew to with Easy Jet from London Gatwick and Munich Airport.
Ravensburg does have a Train station, however it is not very well connected. Travel via Regional Trains will be slow and possibly include changes.
Driving from Stuttgart was slow, as the Motorway had several building works going on causing traffic jams. The landscapes around Ravensburg are pretty nice though.

Hotel
We were very lucky to stay in Hotel Engel right in the middle of the historic city center with gorgeous views onto the towers and close proximity to restaurants [hey we were living in one!] and ice cream parlours. The hotel was incredible, with rooms that turned out to be more like little flats and a kitchen that was recommended to us by others, who did not know we were staying there. It was more on the pricier side, but I would gladly stay there again.

Accessibility
The only downside of a historic city center in Germany are cobble stones. Whilst streets and pavements are fine outside the center walls, inside wheelchair users will have a hard time.
Our hotel was 0 accessible. Many stairs, no lift.
The Veitsburg can be reached by car, but the castle yard again features cobble stones and the viewing platform can only be reached via stairs.
Also it might be good to note that the town is very hilly.
